Shortcuts in Maya

Maya

After using Maya i was able to learn and familiarize myself with the shortcuts within Maya.
What I have learned today:

Shortcuts..
When using maya i was advised and shown how to use the navigation bar and also the help tool. By doing this i have also been able to explore other interface and user ability within the program.

I have also learned how to use the QWERTY shortcuts which enable me to use; Selection, Rotate, Move, Scale and also how to move all axes in a single movement.

By using these shortcuts i am able to alter the object to a specific requirement I need to do.
I have also been advised about what the three axes do within maya, these are know as X,Y,Z these can be selected when using the above shortcut to manipulate a transformation within an object.

I have also learned how to use faces, vertex, multi and edges. i can also now select multiple components by using Shift when then if in edge mode, will be able to select more than 1.

We have been discussing about how to insert edge loop tool which can make you be able to have more Faces, Vertex and Edges.

How to Create in Maya (Polygon Objects)

Creating Polygonal.

When starting in Maya, if you would like to start by creating a polygon you would be able to find the tab within the shelf. If you are unable to find it within the tab shelf you are able to go via Create > Polygon Primitives, this will then open a sub menu which will bring up multiple types, these can include; Helix, Cube , Torus. When selecting one of these objects you will be able to to drag the base on to the grid.

Channel Box:

When dealing with your object you are able to use a tool known as Channel Box; this tool can be used as the fastest way for editing object attributes, which can also be done in the attribute editor, channel box is different in the following ways;:

  • It will only display key-able and non key-able displayed attributes when using this tool, this will only happen for the selected object. when dealing with the channel box you are also able to create a channel key-able or non.
  • You are able to also control construction history.

Attributes within the channel box

When selecting a certain type of object the channel box will display 4 main sections.
  1. object-name - Lists the key-able Transform attributes that, can scale and rotate the position of the object in the space.
  2. Shapes - Lists the name nodes which define geometry of the objects.
  3. Inputs - Lists other nodes that can affect the input. this can lead to the comprise of the construction history of the node.
  4. Output - Lists the names of the Output Nodes for the node.
