Maya

Importing and exporting in Unreal Engine

Today i am learning how to import and export my maya model to another application.
First i have opened Unreal Engine and checked it is fully updated.
I have now opened maya and created a cube. i then went on to selecting the object i then automatically mapped my cube, and then went onto the UV editor. after looking through the editor I found i needed to do a second UV set i went to the polygons tab and then selected copy UV’s to new set and then selected copy into new set
I have then scaled my object into a different size and moved it. i then found out my values had changed on the axis, therefore i had to use the freeze transformations tool to reset my translations and then i went on to snapping it to the grid, after doing this i had to repeat the same step again to make it correspont.
after doing these steps I then went on to deleting the history by going on to edit delete then select delete history. before doing this i remembered that i had to save my work as an ascii file so i had my history and then moved on to doing the delete history tool and then saving it again as a different file name.  After doing this i have selected my model i then done file export selection then choose FBX export and then name it.
